When travelling in remote areas of Western Australia always pack adequate supplies of water, food, fuel, a first aid kit Always tell someone where you are going in WA.

If you take prescribed medication, make sure you will have enough for the duration of your visit. For all other medications, there is a chemist located in the Bush Shopping Village where you will find a wide variety of creams for insect bites, vitamins, Panadol and other general mediations.
Nearly all of the businesses in Hyden have EFTPOS and credit card facilities. If you require cash, there are ATM's located in Hyden Travel Stop, Wave Rock Motel, IGA Fresh Food and you can withdraw cash from the Australia Post Agency at Hyden Trading Co in the Bush Shopping Village. On Tuesday and Thursday every week the NAB and Bank West visit Hyden from 10am - 3pm. The NAB agency is located near Waveline Tyres and Bank West is situated in the Bush Shopping Village.
It is important to check the mobile phone coverage available before you set off on your travels. Hyden only has Telstra mobile signal phone coverage - no Optus mobile phone coverage. Pre Paid Telstra Sims and Telstra mobile phones can be purchased from Hyden Trading Co in the Bush Shopping Village. If you won't get a telco's signal/coverage on your smartphone, download maps, eg Google Map, you need of the areas you're exploring when you do have the coverage BEFORE you start your travels or buy a map from the Bush Shopping Village before you explore the local Western Australian area near Wave Rock. A compass is a good travelling pointer.
If you are travelling WA with pets they should be kept close and under control at all times to ensure their safety. The Department of Parks and Wildlife bait wild dogs, foxes, feral cats, feral pigs and rabbits across pastoral leases, parks and reserves in WA.
Road Trains (trucks with up to 4 trailers) and oversized WA road transport is common along many of the roads and highways in Westen Australia - particular in agricultural regions. Please exercise extreme caution when overtaking on the open road.
Kangaroos can be seen on the roads at dawn and dusk. A good WA travel tip is to avoid travelling on roads at dawn and dusk. Please keep an eye on the road at all time to minimise the risk of hitting a kangaroo with your car. If your car does crash into a kangaroo, do NOT swerve. Rather continue breaking in the straight line of your travel.
When bushwalking do not disturb wildlife, remove plants, rocks or aboriginal artefacts. In warmer months watch out and stay clear of snakes. Always have a well equipped first-aid kit nearby and know how to use it in case of emergencies. If in the rare chance you've been bitten by a Western Australian snake, the tip is not to panic or move about. Keep as still as possible till anti-snake venom is administered.
